NHS England - Public Consultation

NHS England - Public Consultation

In July 2016, NHS England published a set of proposals regarding the future commissioning of congenital heart disease (CHD) services for children and adults. They describe the actions which NHS England proposes to take in order to ensure a consistent standard of care for CHD patients across the country, for now and for the future.

NHS England has launched a public consultation on how it will put in place new standards for hospitals providing CHD services in England.

The consultation, which will run until Monday 5th June 2017, aims to gather as many views as possible from patients, families and clinical experts and will include face to face meetings around the country, webinars and an online survey.

Professor Huon Gray, National Clinical Director for Heart Disease, NHS England has said:

“It’s our job to organise services so that every adult and child with congenital heart disease in this country gets, not just safe or good care, but excellent care. NHS England has set out how these standards can be put into practice. No final decisions have been made, and whether or not they are carried out in the way that has been suggested, is subject to the outcome of the public consultation. We encourage everyone with an interested to get involved.”

During the consultation period, there will be a range of events. This will include three large-scale face to face events and a series of webinars.

Face-to-face Events:

London: 7th March 2017, 6pm-8pm
Leicester: 9th March 2017, 6pm-8pm
Manchester: 11th March 2017, 10am-12pm
These events will be “Question Time”-style events. These are primarily aimed at patients and the public. The purpose of the events is to provide people with an opportunity to hear more about our proposals, and ask questions or seek clarification about our proposed plans. To register interest in any of these face-to-face events, complete the online form, which can be accessed using the links above. Places are limited – you will be notified by NHS England if you have secured a place.
