Terms and conditions for Great East Run 2018 ‘own place’ fundraisers 

1.   I understand that the Somerville Foundation will let me know when places for the Great East Run 2018 are available to purchase from

2. I understand that the Somerville Foundation is not offering me a place in the Great East Run 2018 and that I must obtain a place myself from

3. As an ‘own place’ fundraiser, I undertake to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship (excluding Gift Aid), all of which will go to the Somerville Foundation. 

4. I confirm that I will be at least 17 years of age by the date of the Great East Run 2018 and that, to the best of my knowledge, my general state of health and fitness is good and I take full responsibility for my training. I take part at my own risk.

5. I give the Somerville Foundation permission to use photographs or videos taken of me to raise awareness or money for the Somerville Foundation’s work. 

6. I understand that I will also be required to sign up to, and comply with, the event organiser’s event rules and/or terms and conditions. Please read these carefully, as they will set out the event organiser’s obligations and liabilities to you and vice versa. Please note that the Somerville Foundation is not responsible for the organisation or management of the event, and therefore we shall have no liability to you for any injury, damage or loss suffered by you when taking part in or in connection with the event.

7. When you submit your form, the Somerville Foundation collects your personal data. The Somerville Foundation is the data controller for this information. 

8. You understand that The Somerville Foundation may use, process and share your personal data for the following reasons:
o to send you information about the event and your fundraising;
o with third parties as is necessary to provide you with the information and materials you need for the event;
o if you actively opt in to being contacted, by the Somerville Foundation about our work, services and activities;
o to comply with our statutory and regulatory obligations or as required by law.

9. You can ask for a copy of your personal data held by the Somerville Foundation by contacting the Somerville Foundation by email at:, or by post to the Data Protection Officer, The Somerville Foundation, Saracen’s House, 25 St Margaret’s Green, Ipswich, IP4 2BN. As soon as the Somerville Foundation is satisfied as to your identity, the Somerville Foundation shall send you a copy of all the data we hold about you.

10. Please note that all monies that you raise in connection with the event are held on trust for the Somerville Foundation, and therefore you have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received in connection with an event are paid to us. We ask that you do this as soon as possible, but in any event within one month of the date of the event. Further information about getting these funds to us can be found on the “Paying in your funds raised” section of the the Somerville Foundation website.

11. This event may be photographed or filmed for our use in print, press and online marketing. By attending this event you are giving consent for images of you and your supporters to appear in these. If you have any concerns or do NOT wish to be part of these materials, please talk with a member of staff before taking part.

12. You participate in this event at your own risk. The Somerville Foundation will not be held responsible for any injury or illness resulting from your participation in the event. You agree that you will undertake suitable training and consult your GP if you have any concerns regarding health or injury.
