The 1st Great East Run

Sunday 24 September 2017

2017 will see the inaugural staging of the Great East Run in Ipswich, and our very own Helen Barker is one of the first to sign up to take part.

On 24th September 2017, she will join 2500 other runners on this brand new route. Ipswich is a vibrant, historic town that will provide a stunning backdrop for this event.

"I am completely out of shape and unfit. Training for this half marathon will no doubt be hard but I love this charity and they deserve every penny I can raise. Please join me and sign up too.

ENTER THE GREAT EAST RUN HERE and don't forget to let us know when you've signed up so we can send you a running vest and pack.

I have met many of the incredible people helped daily by The Somerville Foundation. People born with a heart condition, many who have battled throughout their whole lives to stay alive, fighting infections and illnesses, enduring surgery, after surgery, not knowing what the future holds. I have met their families and friends and shared highly emotional times as they struggle to cope with the unknowing, and tragically I have seen some lose their fight for life.

Being involved in the work of The Somerville Foundation is hugely humbling and I feel privileged to take part in this event for them. They make a huge difference to the many lives they help, and so please dig deep to make a difference and help them too. Please make donations on my Justgiving page."

Join #TeamTSF and you will receive:

  • TSF running vest to wear with pride on the day.
  • Fundraising pack with ideas to help you reach your target, including personalised posters and sponsorship forms.
  • Personalised online training schedule.
