NHS England proposals for congenital heart disease services

In February 2017, NHS England as the public body responsible for commissioning specialised congenital heart services, launched a consultation to ensure excellent care for patients with congenital heart disease.

It follows the publication in July 2016 of a set of proposals regarding the future commissioning of congenital heart disease (CHD) services for children and adults. The proposals describe the actions which NHS England propose to take in order to ensure a consistent standard of care for CHD patients across the country, for now and for the future.

You can find an easy read version here or read the full proposal document here.

The consultation, which will now run until 17 July 2017, aims to gather as many views as possible from patients, families and clinical experts and will include face to face meetings around the country, webinars and an online survey.

Michael Cumper, Vice-President, The Somerville Foundation is the patient representative on the consultation board.

It is very important that you get to have your say. Please complete both the NHS England survey below. Michael will view all responses and ensure the board is made aware of your thoughts and concerns.
